How does require to process E-passport ?

There are several steps to go through after applying for an e-passport. It takes about a month for ordinary applicants to get an e-passport. However, in the intervening period from the time of application to the time of receipt, the applicant can know the status of their passport or the latest status of the application process.

An applicant can easily check the status by visiting this (https://www.epassport.gov.bd/authorization/application-status) link from the e-passport website. Online, the Bangladesh Passport and Immigration Department announces the latest status of the application in several short words. Many people have trouble understanding them.

With these words, the passport department informs the applicant about 10 types of status.

>> The first of these is ‘Submitted’. Your passport application has been successfully submitted to the Passport Office web server.

>> The second step is ‘Appointment Scheduled’. This message means that the applicant's appointment schedule has been completed.

>> The third step is ‘Enrollment in Process’. Seeing this message, it should be understood that the hard copy of the applicant's application form (including photo and fingerprint) has been submitted to the passport office. The application is in process. This step takes at least 1-2 days to complete.

>> The fourth step ‘Pending SB Police Clearance’ (Pending SB Police Clearance). Clearance from the Special Branch (SB) of the police is required for each new application. Showing this message means that the applicant's application has been sent to SB for police verification. Police are awaiting an investigation report. This step takes at least 3-10 days to complete. In many cases it takes more than a month. However, a police officer can take as long as possible in the interest of a proper investigation. He reports only when he is completely satisfied.

>> The fifth step ‘Pending Final Approval’. This is the next step in giving a satisfactory report to the police verification. Seeing this message, it should be understood that the application is awaiting the approval of the Assistant Director (AD) of the Passport Office. This step takes at least 1-4 days to complete. However, due to the lockdown, many applications have been submitted and now it is taking 8-10 days.

>> The sixth step, if you see the message 'Approved', you will understand that the Assistant Director (AD) of the Department has approved the printing of the passport. This step takes at least 1-3 days to complete.

>> The seventh step, giving the message ‘Pending in Print Queue’ means that the passport has been sent for printing, it is waiting for printing. This step takes 3-14 days to complete. However, it is currently taking a month to print the passport.

>>The eighth step, ‘Passport Shipped’ means that the passport has been successfully printed and is being sent to the Regional Passport Office. This step takes 1-3 days to complete.

>>The ninth step, ‘Passport Ready for Issuance’ means that the passport has reached the Regional Passport Office. The applicant can go to the office at the specified time of the day and take the passport.

>> The tenth step, after taking the passport of the applicant, the message ‘Passport issued’ is given in his mobile number and e-mail.
